Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) is a widely used clinical tool for the assessment of areal bone mineral density (aBMD). Two X-ray beams of differing energy are used to subtract soft tissue absorption. The Guise lab uses DXA in translational studies to assess changes in aBMD and body composition (lean and fat mass) in animal models.
